David W. Haas, MD, is Professor of Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases within the Department of Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He is also a Professor of Pharmacology, Pathology, Microbiology & Immunology at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, and Adjunct Professor of Internal Medicine at Meharry Medical College. He is also a board-certified infectious diseases specialist. Dr. Haas’ research focuses on human pharmacogenomics relevant to HIV infection and tuberculosis, and he has led the design and implementation of numerous HIV- and tuberculosis-focused studies. His overarching goal is understanding the impact of human genetics on drug efficacy, toxicity, pharmacokinetics, and drug-drug interactions, and translating this into clinical practice. Since 2000 Dr. Haas has led the pharmacogenomics program of the NIH-funded AIDS Clinical Trials Group. He is also associate director of the Tennessee Center for AIDS Research.
