Genomics Specialty Lab Director
David W. Haas, MD, is Professor of Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases within the Department of Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He is also a Professor of Pharmacology, Pathology, Microbiology & Immunology at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, and Adjunct Professor of Internal Medicine at Meharry Medical College. He is also a board-certified infectious diseases specialist.
Dr. Haas’ research focuses on human pharmacogenomics relevant to HIV infection and tuberculosis, and he has led the design and implementation of numerous HIV- and tuberculosis-focused studies. His overarching goal is understanding the impact of human genetics on drug efficacy, toxicity, pharmacokinetics, and drug-drug interactions, and translating this into clinical practice.
Since 2000 Dr. Haas has led the pharmacogenomics program of the NIH-funded AIDS Clinical Trials Group. He is also associate director of the Tennessee Center for AIDS Research.
